Celebrities Gather to Honor Work of World’s Greatest Beatles Artist-Shannon

Celebrities came together this past Thursday night, June 11, 2009 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center to celebrate the artwork of The World’s Greatest Beatles Artist-Shannon.

NJPAC was all a buzz as the invitation-only crowd of hundreds gathered on the rainy evening to witness the unveiling of eight works of art by Beatles-artist Shannon.  These eight paintings are replicas of the eight paintings Shannon created that now adorn the outside of the Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool.

The celebrities on hand to ceremonially unveil each of the paintings were: May Pang - John Lennon’s girlfriend and author of the new book, “Instamatic Karma”; Sid Bernstein - Legendary music producer and promoter responsible for bringing the Beatles to America and organized The Beatles' concert at Shea Stadium; Dennis Ferrante - Grammy award winning recording engineer. Worked on Lennon's albums from Imagine thru Rock n Roll; Dennis Diken –Drummer for the NJ rock & roll band The Smithereens, who recently released ‘Meet The Smithereens!’, a tribute to the Beatles’ first US LP; Mark Weiss - Legendary Rock photographer Mark Weiss and owner of WEISSGUY gallery; Shaun Weiss - The only living person to have attended the Beatles' first live appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, their first Shea Stadium concert and the famous the Beatles rooftop concert and he was a go-fer for the Fab Four in London from 1969-1970.Nadia Mierau - International giclee artist from Russia; Kim Evanoff - Contest winner from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

You could feel the excitement as each painting was unveiled following an eloquent introduction by the event’s MC Tom Scuccimarra.  As the drapes on each painting fell, the works were met with camera flashes and applause from the crowd!  You could see the excitement in each of the unveilers glowing faces, a look that was matched by the onlookers themelves.  After the unveiling was over, Shannon gave a heartfelt speech and thanked everyone before she returned to her guests to pose for pictures and sign autographs.

Shannon’s future plans include collaborations with rock band Cheap Trick; various appearances of her artwork in commercials and media publications; and the release of her illustrated book, “A Hard Decade’s Night” about her works since receiving the title, "The World's Greatest Beates Artist" and the story of the road she took to get there. The book release will be followed by an extensive promotional tour in 2010.
