"ART and the ELSINORE"

In her late Mom’s words, since she was two years old, Shannon dabbled in the arts and carried a pencil around like a child carries a blanket. No scribbling. Every drawing was identifiable. Every piece of paper in their home was a canvas for the young art starlet. Becoming a serious artist was only a few years away. She won her first blue ribbon when she was just in the seventh grade for a first attempt at copper tooling (the art of manipulating metal with special tools). To this day she remembers her amazement of seeing the ribbon attached to her piece. She still remembers not truly understanding what a blue ribbon was and the excitement and positive reaction of the teachers around her…for all her life, so far, teachers looked at her as exceptionally introverted and nothing short of a “dreamer”.

Shannon’s art was her true calling. It was her life and only love. Nothing could ever replace the passion. Well, almost nothing. As in every good story, there is a romantic side (stay with us guys). For the first time in her life, her art was about to take a back seat. In 1974, love came a knockin’ when her eyes glanced over the new kid on the block…it was a CR125M Elsinore. Nothing like it existed thus far (perhaps nothing will again). Sure, she played around with the family mini-bike but it never seemed enough and she spent more time looking for the master-link in the dirt than actually riding it. Her short-lived love for an SL70 was just that. It took a bit of saving and a wary co-signing Dad, but at the age of 15, Shannon owned her first real motocross bike.

Shannon never looked back at her Artistic endeavors. As far as she was concerned, motocross and her CR125 were truly everything she ever needed. But what happened next was simply a connection between art and speed and only a vintage motocrosser (who once road an Elsinore) could understand the timing.

When Marty Tripes appeared at the track with a red-topped Elsinore tank, Shannon and all that loved the Elsinore were Gary Jonesing for some red paint. Within a couple days Shannon appeared on her Elsinore with a red-topped tank. For the first time, her love for art and her love for motorcycles were fused together.

It still holds strong and today she paints everyday and just about everything. For more about SHANNON go to: http://www.theshannongallery.com/shannon_info.html
